Welcome to Kitchen Chemists, the ultimate library lab designed specifically for tweens who love to mix science with snacks. In this program, we step into the kitchen to explore the fascinating chemical reactions that happen in food every day. Participants will discover the basic scientific principles behind cooking, seeing firsthand how simple ingredients transform, react, and create completely different results when food and science collide.
This month, we are celebrating the flavors of fall with a pumpkin cookie lab! Using pumpkins as our seasonal canvas, our young scientists will dive into the world of baking science as they experiment with different amounts of ingredients and observe how each change affects the final cookie. Through hands-on investigation, kids will explore the connections between measurements, chemical reactions, texture, and taste while discovering how small adjustments can create big changes in the outcome. It is a fun, delicious way to combine creativity, experimentation, and the science behind one of October’s favorite treats.
We supply all the ingredients, tools, and recipe cards — all you need to bring is your creativity, your enthusiasm, and a joy for learning. Come join the fun and watch discover just how exciting and tasty kitchen science can be!
