Veterans Day 5K

The Veterans Healing Farm will host its Veterans

Day 5K, presented by Best Buy Metals, on Sunday, November 8, at Mills River Park. The race

starts at 10 a.m. on the park’s greenway, and every dollar raised supports the farm’s free

programs for veterans and their families across Western North Carolina.

The flat, family-friendly course runs two loops of the Mills River Park greenway, starting near

the Willow shelter. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome, and strollers may

join from the back of the pack. Each 5K registration includes chip timing, a race shirt and a

finisher medal.

For younger participants, an untimed half-mile Fun Run Loop begins at 9:45 a.m., with a finisher

medal and bib for every child. Supporters who can't attend can sign up for the Virtual 5K and

receive a shirt, bib and medal by mail after race day.

"Our Veterans Day 5K is more than a race. It's an opportunity for our community to come

together, show our Veterans they are not forgotten, and help us continue our mission.

Proceeds from the race will directly support our therapeutic programs and workshops, all of

which are provided at no cost to Veterans and their families. Every step taken and every dollar

raised helps us make a difference in the lives of those who have given so much for our country.”

said Al Yeck, Executive Director of the Veterans Healing Farm.

Awards go to the top three male and female finishers overall, with Masters (40+) and Grand

Masters (50+) prizes from Mountain Running Company. Custom age-group awards, donated by

a Vietnam veteran, go to the top three in each age group from 10 and under to 80 and up.
